Environmental Engineering Lab

The Environmental Engineering Laboratory is a state of the art, well-equipped laboratory that is able to perform most types of laboratory analyses. The Environmental Lab is used by many different disciplines across the campus including the Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Studies. Each department uses the laboratory for both courses and research which provides students with hands-on experience in environmental analysis methods.

Geotechnical Laboratory

Geotech Lab

The lab portion of this course is an introduction to laboratory methods for determining soil properties. Some of the tests conducted in this lab are consolidation testing, shear testing, Triaxial compression testing, plastic limit determination and soil classification.

The Mission of the Geotechnical Engineering Section is to support the Office of Materials and Road Research, Engineering Services Division and other state agencies by providing geotechnical engineering expertise. The Geotechnical Section provides solutions for structural foundations, soil and rock slope engineering, aggregate quality, and applications in geosynthetics, and vibrations.

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

Fluid Mechanics Lab

The Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics Laboratory is used in Civil Engineering fluid mechanics and water resources classes. The lab is designed to give students hands-on experience with fluid flows in Civil Engineering.

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory is well equipped with flow measuring devices in pipes and flow measurements in open channels. Facilities are available for calibration of flow measuring devices as well as pressure testing of pipes and pumps.

Concrete and Material Testing Laboratory

Construction Material Lab

The course is meant to supplement the students’ understanding and appreciation of material behavior through personal contact with and observation of tests on common engineering materials and systems. It is also intended to teach a student how to prepare and submit a brief report on an experiment. Concrete mix design and concrete testing are the first topics treated. Included under these topics are concrete aggregate tests, the mechanics of computing mix design quantities, batching and testing of fresh concrete and the actual testing of concrete cylinders.

Surveying Lab

The Surveying Laboratory is equipped with the instruments and tools that students use throughout the surveying course. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments and demonstrate their proficiency on weekly lab.

The lab serves as office space for the surveying instructor and teaching assistants, so surveying students have direct access to help for material discussed in lecture and lab.

The objective of the strength of materials lab is to demonstrate the basic principles in the area of strength and mechanics of materials and structural analysis to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments.  In this lab the experiments are performed to measure the properties of the materials such as impact strength, tensile strength, compressive strength, hardness, ductility etc.
